VISION: The
AMA District 7 Gold Series will regain its position as the premier
motocross series in the mid-Atlantic region.
The year-end awards banquet will distribute District 7 “GOLD” (cash
purse) to the Top 5 A-riders in each of the seven recognized Expert classes in
lieu of trophies. This will be funded
by the sale of ten (10) or more $500 sponsorship packages. Contingency awards and product from Gold
Series sponsors will be paid out to the B, C, Y and Women’s classes.
MISSION: To
improve the existing District 7 Expert Race Series in such a way as to increase
rider participation, spectator turnout and prestige and to raise the standards
of all races in it. Increased
membership can be achieved by not competing with MDRA for riders on the same day
whenever possible.
PROMOTER
SELECTION: District
7 will select the promoters (clubs/promoters/tracks) for the limited number of
Gold Series Races based upon the MOTOCROSS Committee’s review and evaluation of
all interested Promoters (clubs, track operators, professional promoters) in
our district and borderline areas. Not
everyone is guaranteed an event, as has been the practice in the past. District 7 does not owe any promoter a race
– they EARN IT through the riders’ respect and thus, market demand.
The
Promoter/Venue would be debated and decided on by the Motocross Committee. The Committee will consist of the following
nine (9) board reps: MX, YMX, BCMX,
WMX, QMX, VTSRMX, CONTINGENCY COORDINATOR and two active motocross riders. The two “at-large” members will be selected
by secret ballot by the seven aforementioned reps. The committee will be
chaired by the MX chairman.
All
known D7 promoters would be mailed a “letter of notification” asking for them
to express if they are interested in hosting a Gold Series event. The letter would be mailed in July and a
response would be due by July 31st. The
committee would meet in August to review and begin selecting promoters and
assembling a tentative schedule.

PROGRAM
STRUCTURE:
This
proposal suggests a 12-race Spring/Fall combo series.
·
6-Race
Spring Series incorporates our existing “Yamaha” series.
·
6-Race
Autumn Series incorporates our existing “Honda” program.
·
The
total 12-race Series would determine year-end standings & awards.
·
Additional
events for B, C, Y and Q Championship points could be added as deemed
appropriate by the committee. These
“feeder events/Silver Series (?)” would count towards the final Gold Series
awards program.
